Meter Readings

I purchased the upgrade, but the app still isn't upgraded. What should I do?

You have unfortunatly been hit by a bug in Android Market which can be hard to get rid of, and there are no known solution that will work 100% of the time. The following options have worked in some cases:

  • First restart the phone, then goto the Upgrade page and press "Restore upgrade".
  • Uninstall the app and download it again. Goto the Upgrade page page and press "Restore upgrade".

If none of these options work, you can contact meterreadings@ilios.dk with your Google order number and I can email you a special activation code that can be used to upgrade the app manually.

Will I have to pay to upgrade the app again if I get a new phone?

No! Upgrading Meter Readings to the full version is a "managed" purchase, meaning that Android Market keeps track of your purchase. If you for any reason needs to reinstall, simply download the normal version of Meter Readings and go to the Upgrade page and press "Restore upgrade". The upgrade will then happen automatically without having to pay again.

What do the colors on the graph mean?

A red bar means that your usage that month is above the average, a green bar means you are below. The yellow bar is the currently selected month, simply press on another bar to select that insted. A brown bar is last years usage.

How do I import data into Meter Readings?

Place a csv-file with the data in the "meter_readings" directory on the device. The data needs to be formatted in a special way for the importer to work, but an example can be downloaded here: meter_data.csv

How do I delete readings or fix any errors?

Select "Readings" from the starting screen. Select the list icon in the uppper right corner. It is now possible to either edit readings by tapping the row you want to edit or long tap to delete the row.

How does replacing a meter work?

When you select "Replace Meter" from the meter configuration page, you are asked to fill in the last value of the old meter and the first value for the new meter. The app will then automatically insert two readings with the same timestamp with appropriate comments to mark a meter replacement.

The rest of the app will then assume that whenever two readings have the same timestamp, the meter has been replaced and adjust calculations accordingly. You can freely edit the default comments for the meter replacement if you wish (from the list view as usual), just beware of changing the time unless you change both.

How do I rewoke access to Google Drive and Dropbox, so Meter Readings no longer can access them?

For Google Drive, go to this page https://accounts.google.com/b/0/IssuedAuthSubTokens?hl=en and press "Rewoke access" for "Meter Readings for Android — Drive API". For Dropbox, log into the homepage, go to "Settings" and "My apps", then remove the app "Meter Readings for Android". You can always reenable access to these services inside the app.

Why doesn't Dropbox save my database?

Apparently there is a bug in the Dropbox API, which in some cases causes dropbox to fail silently. Try to rename or delete the file on dropbox first, then export it again. You can always check the "Last updated" time in either the Dropbox app or on their homepage to ensure that the export worked.
